Family Classic Cars - First Friday
Well, its not their first Friday, its the first Friday of every month that they put on a really nice open house. The last one took place on June 5th and attracted a large crowd to celebrate the opening of the new Boutique shop located inside their dealership.
General manager Larry Alderson, affectionately known by some as "Leisure Suit Larry", will always be near, making introductions and answering any questions that people may have on the spectacular cars that they have in inventory.
On this occasion the new boutique store, World Class Motoring, was the feature and here we can find some very cool items. Looking for Steve McQueens movie Le Mans, they have it. But wait, you've got to have his replica leather jacket to go with it and Ok, I'll take the Porsche 917K model too. After all you can't have too much McQueen!
The next time your in or near San Juan Capistrano check out Family classic cars. They have a great stock list and great people.
The Dave & Garry Blogs
Its What's In Our Name
Newport Harbor. Land of bounty and seas of yachts. With that, we will stray a little from our usual car blogs and give you a little oceanic fun stuff to follow for a few days.
Member Chris Welsh is captaining Ragtime, his vintage Spencer 65 yacht this week on the Transpac Yacht Race from Long Beach to Diamond Head in Honolulu. Chris and his crew spent quite a few days at the club rebuilding his winches to be in top form; (don't blame us if they break)!
The race will cover 2,225 naughtical miles and end in much zeal and celebration; you know the drill, Polynesian luau dancers, the pig baked in the ground and fancy drinks with umbrellas in them.

Formula SAE Visits
on British F1 Weekend
The California leg of the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Series was run at Fontana Auto Club Speedway June 17~20th. The Society of Automotive Engineers creates a 95 page rule book that includes everything from design, performance, safety and yes even a cost and manufacturing study has to be presented, (just like GM has to do with Obama). Garry and NHDclub member Russ Wicks went to see what this year's eighty-one universities from around the globe had put together for the occasion. As Russ was quietly evaluating the different engineering aspects of each car, Garry caught up with his nephew Adam Binley, a mechanical engineering senior at the University of Victoria, Canada whose team brought their new ’09 car. On Sunday at our Formula One brunch Team UVIC came along to watch the race and later give us a detailed view of the workmanship that went into the chassis of their car. For anyone who has not been to a SAE event, we encourage you to do so and get to meet our upcoming new generation of automotive engineers.
Team UVIC Dave has to try everything

Wine Wheels & Wishes
The club hosted a benefit for Share Our Wine Foundation on June 13 for the benefit of abused children and their families in Orange County. Four wineries got to share their delectable wines and have them judged. The vent was hosted by Art Salazar of Slogo Entertainment. We would like to thank the following participants and welcome them back again soon.
The Model T club also showed up with a terrific selection of unrestored cars after a run up from Dana Point Harbor!
